He was predeceased by: his parents, Mede Anderson and Cora Crews Anderson; his wife Linda Lou Ballard; his son Melvin Anderson, Jr.; and his siblings, Helen Anderson, Audrey Mohlenbruck, Eleanor Van Hyning, Grace Pauline Anderson, Jesse, Robert, Carl, Lee, Alvin and Clifford Anderson.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Zabel of Pleasant Hill, Amber Pate (Tom) of Beardstown, Lori Wilson of Springfield and Stacey Erickson (Dirk) of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Joshua McCabe (Kaitlyn), Alyssa Vernon (Mark), Sierra Doil, Haley Pate, Lilly Pate, Quinton Wilson and Mallory Erickson; and his great grandchildren, Riley, Jeffrey Chappell, Kayleigh McCabe, Vincent Vernon, Maci and Devonte Doil. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
