He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman McMurl and Ruth McMurl; his daughter Ericka McMurl; and his siblings, Robert McMurl, Margaret Beutin and Henrietta Barker.
He is survived by: his children, Curt McMurl (Kim), Niki Wise (Dan) and Chris Vaniter (Megan Little); his siblings, Harry McMurl (Marilyn), Nora Utterback, Mary Lou Gielau and Kay Blakeman (Paul); his grandchildren, Jessica Bailey (Ethan), Mitchell McMurl, Adam Wise, Gretchen Wise, Cora Wise, Tycen Little, Landon Little and Nolan Vaniter; and his great grandchildren, Colt Bailey, Riggs Bailey and Mia Bailey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery (215 W 5th St, Beardstown, IL 62618).
Memorials are suggested to St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery, or the Beardstown Baseball Association.
