He was predeceased by : his father Maurice Robert; and his sister Rebecca "Becky" Gossage. He is survived by : his mother Donna Jean Hamm Vancil of Beardstown; his daughters, Jody Cook, Selena Cavett, Ashley Vancil (Michael) of Decatur, Bobbie Jo Vancil (Johnnie) of Virginia and Savannah Vancil of Brooklyn, IL; his grandchildren, Cody, Dean, Sam and Charlotte; and his sister Amanda Vancil of Rushville. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
