He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra Prete; his parents, Jean Prete and Milo Prete; and his grandparents, Leonard and Franciszka Pluta.

He is survived by: his children, David Prete (Christine), Jennifer McFarlane (Tom), Amy Gallegos (Johnny), Christopher Prete (Cynthia) and Kristina Stewart (Will); and his siblings, Rosemary Savage and Robert Prete (Carol).

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Steger Memorial Chapel (3045 Chicago Rd, Steger, IL 60475). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Liborius Catholic Church (71 W 35th St, Steger, IL 60475).

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alicia's House, 17 Paulsen Avenue, South Chicago Heights, IL. or the Manteno Veterans Home, 1 Veterans Drive, Manteno, IL.
