He was predeceased by: his father Cletus (Dorothy); and his brother Thomas Schlarman. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Rosalie Schlarman; and his sibling's children, Sean Knight, Patrick Knight, Tom Schlarman, Steve Schlarman and Erica Kniffin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daystar Community Program, Cairo, IL; Our Brothers Keepers; or the Society of St. Vincent De Paul.
