Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Thurman and Mary Catherine Thurman (Davis); his son Lester V. Thurman; and his sister-in-law Dolly Thurman. He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Vogler; his children, Rick Thurman (Laurie), JoAnne Sehr (Ronald) and Jim Thurman (DD); and his brother Michael Thurman (Mary Catherine Thurman). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1810 McClintock Ave, Belleville, IL 62221). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville IL, St. Judes Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army.
