He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen L. Melichar; his parents, James and Edith; and his siblings, Virginia Eslinger, Betty Gasawski and James Melichar.
He is survived by: his daughter Shelly Speidel (Vernon) of Belleville, IL; and his grandchildren, Rachel Abernathy and Nolan Abernathy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
