He was predeceased by: his sons, Ronald T. Schield and Robert D. Schield; and his father Charles Zepart (Helen E.). He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann Schield; his children, Randy K. Schield (Lynn) and Julie M. Schield (Dale Hoelscher); his daughter-in-law Jami Schield; his grandchildren, Danielle Conway (Matt), Christopher Schield (Jen), Emma McCarthy (Nathan), Colleen Runge (Aaron), Amy Rodenmeyer (Curt), Renae Schield, Brian Schield (Kelli), Darian Schield, Madelyn Schield and Hannah Hoelscher; and his cousin Wes T. White. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1810 McClintock Ave, Belleville, IL 62221).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Family Hospice, or to St. Clair TNR & Rescue.
