She was predeceased by: her former husband Leroy J. Berkel; her son Thomas R. Berkel; her father Edgar Henry (Mary Ann); her siblings, Leonard, Wilfred Stratmann, Mildred Stratmann and Blanche Stratmann Rehling; her siblings-in-law, Edward Rehling and Anita Becherer; her daughters-in-law, Sandy Johann and Mimi Brown; her granddaughter Jennifer Johann-Berkel; and her great grandchildren, Patrick Jonathon Martin and Miriam Tokarsky.
She is survived by: her husband Lee; her children, Kenneth Berkel (Christiane) of Rubicon, WI, Charles Berkel (Sandy) of Edwardsville, IL, Edgar Berkel (Bena Silber) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Janet Sorenson Hill (Dwain) of Rochester, IL, Joanne Lippincott of Belleville, IL, Margaret Williams (Edward) of Shiloh, IL, Barbara Jeremiah (Bruce) of Steeleville, IL and Steven Berkel (Maggie Kirk) of St. Jacob, IL; and her daughter-in-law Susan Berkel of Troy, IL. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and two on the way; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church or in the form of masses.
