He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. John H. Coffey and Bettye J. Miller (Goyne); his brother Robert S. Coffey; his stepfather Henry E. Miller; his stepbrother Larry D. Miller; and his grandson Gage V. Coffey.

He is survived by: his wife Ann M. Coffey (Theis); his son Kristopher S. Coffey; his grandson Atreyu "Tru" A. Coffey; his sister-in-law Carolyn M. Coffey (Davis); and his stepbrother David H. Miller (Jackie). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
