He was predeceased by: his son Jeffery S. Hoernis; his brother Allen Hoernis; and his sister-in-law Sue Hoernis. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette M.; his children, Timothy M. Hoernis, Pamela Fischer (John) and Sandra Quirin (Bob); his grandchildren, Evan, Elly and Ethan Fischer; and his pets, Sissy and Lucy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
