He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife June; his daughters, Deborah Powers and Christine Freitag; his grandchildren, Jillian Gurney (Jason), Becky Gacek (Tom Landvogt), Matt Gacek (Samantha), Jenny Daily, Bradley Powers, Amanda Fiala (Michael), Ryan Freitag, Zach Freitag and Autumn Melendez; his great grandchildren, Seth, Anneliese, Isaac, Vincent, Kyle, Adam, James, Wyatt and Clayton; his siblings, Bonnie Vins and Lynn Czerwinski; and his sister-in-law Kathleen Chmura (late Tom). He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
The military honors was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Auburn Cemetery (4101 S Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402).
