He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Edward Leifheit; his wife Christine M. Petroski; his children, Benjamin Leifheit (Whitney) of Bloomington, Emily Leifheit (Will Smallze) of Pensacola, FL and Brandon Leifheit of Dallas, TX; his grandson Braden Leifheit; his mother Diana Leifheit of Yorkville; his sister Kimberly Crown (Mark) of Yorkville; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Kathleen Petroski of Bloomington; and his brother-in-law Kevin Petroski (Tracey) of Spring Grove.

Because of the history of diabetes in Brett and Chris' families, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
