She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Harold Edward and Elizabeth Louise Rohde (Winkelmann); her brother Donald L. Rohde; her husband William R. Hertter; and her son Douglas R. Hertter.

She is survived by: her children, Sarah Duncan, Andrew Hertter and Rachel Mull (Todd); her grandchildren, Ashley Marie Hertter, Shelby Winchell, Lexy Winchell, Reed John Hoover and Cole William Hoover; and her sister Margo Boline (Leon).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's name to Home Sweet Home Ministries (http://www.hshministries.org.) in Bloomington, Illinois, honoring her legacy of faith and compassion.
