He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Crites and Willie R. Davis Crites; his siblings, Raymond Crites, William Crites and Daisy Crites Huff; and his brother-in-law Pastor L. A. McClinton.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Harris of Bloomington; his stepson Derek Hopkins of Atlanta, GA; his son Deon Crites of Springfield; his siblings, Charles E. Crites of Arizona, Bernice McCleton of Chicago, Geraldine Crites-Royston (Prentiss) of Chicago, Joyce E. Allen of Chicago, Atta Clark of Decatur and Julia Gibson of Joliet; his special cousin Leon Fletcher; his close friend Claude Prather; and his granddaughters, Dena Morton and LaRhonda Ellis. He is also survived by two stepbrothers; may loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
