He was predeceased by: his parents, William Alfred and Evelyn Marie Staton (Dyer); his wife Nancy Dahl Staton; and his siblings, Deral Staton, Judith Staton, Harriett Roethe, Margaret Moncrief, James Staton, Donald Staton, Robert Staton and Nancy Jo Staton.
He is survived by: his children, John Staton Jr. (Lisa) of Lake Forest, IL, Cynthia Erickson (David) of Arlington Heights, IL and Debra Oswald (John) of Monona, WI.; his grandchildren, Stephanie Staton, Sarah Erickson, Jessica Frost (Joe), Matthew Oswald, Caroline Erickson, Mitchell Oswald (Elise), Thomas Erickson and Grace Erickson; and his siblings, Elsie Staton, Ruth Tool (Art) and Marvin Staton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial (1115 E Washington St, Bloomington, IL 61701). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Eastview Christian Church - Normal (1500 Airport Rd, Normal, IL 61761).
