Mary Ellen Embry Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Ellen Embry of Bloomington, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 6, 2026 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Mary Ellen has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Schertz and Gertrude Aileen Ethington Schertz. She is survived by: her husband David Arthur Embry of Bloomington; her children, Kelly Zimmerman of Bloomington, Betsy Embry of Bloomington, Charlotte Harries of Bloomington and David A. Embry Jr. of Bloomington; and her sister Betty Petropoul of Odell. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.
