He is survived by: his mother-in-law Rebecca Knudsen; and his children, Nichelle Kashner, Mike Kashner, Aaron Halliday (Sheila), Adam Halliday, Anthony Kashner (Jennette), Ashley Kashner, Alex Kashner (Laura), Amber Van Wetering (Agi) and Jessica Welch.

Memorials may be made in Vernon's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
