He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bailey and Georgia Bailey (Higgins); his sister Janet Albers; his brother-in-law Richard Martin; his nieces, Debbie, Vickie and Susan; and his nephew David.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Anne Brockhouse; his children, James E. Bailey of Bluffs, Laura Reid (Robert) of Bluffs and Rebecca "Becky" McClellan (Alan) of South Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, Joshua, Hannah Bailey, Justin (Alexis), Brandon Reid (Jessica), Bailey Haynes (Ethan) and Tyler McClellan; his stepgrandson Jack Wetherell; his sisters, Charlene Merriman (James) and Mary Ann Martin; and his nieces, Lisa Cook (Brian), Shelly Hays (Matt) and Sara Reynolds (Dan). He is also survived by eight great grandsons.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, or to the Heart Association.
