He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. Tholen and Dorothy Mae Tholen (Eheart); his brother Marvin Tholen; and his uncle Earl Eheart. He is survived by: his son Merle Tholen Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tammy Morrical-Tholen of Bonfield; his brother Wilmer; his sister-in-law Laura Tholen of Buckley; his grandchildren, Chris Tholen, Gabby Tholen, Rylan Tholen and Scarllett Tholen; and his sibling's children, Emily and Tim Tholen.
