He was predeceased by : his parents, William Hammond and Antoinette Hammond (Staniewicz); his son James P. Hammond Jr.; and his siblings, Barbara Ellen Hammond and William Hammond.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Hammond of Bourbonnais; his daughter-in-law Krista Hammond of Bourbonnais; his daughter Cindy Keast of Kankakee; his grandchildren, Stephanie Keast, Danielle Keast and Shelley Hammond; his great grandchild Kaitlyn Arce; his siblings, Jannice Smith of Canada, Jackie (Ron Dawson) and Roger; and his sister-in-law Maureena Hammond. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
