He is survived by: his wife Jane Gerth of Bourbonnais; his children, Scott Gerth of Emporia, KS, Jim Gerth (Lisa) of Kankakee, Andy Gerth (Heather) of Kankakee, Gina Brandenburg (David) of Columbia, SC and Jodi Brandenburg (Ted Danielson) of Kankakee; his siblings, Polly Gerth of Bradley and Thomas Gerth (Sharon) of El Paso, IL; and his grandchildren, Amy Colbert, Emily McMillan, Jennifer Brandenburg, Cameron Gerth, Mitchell Gerth, Elliot Gerth and Emma Gerth. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (428 S Indiana Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made the Bishop McNamara Catholic School.
