He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Hassett and Luella Hassett (Dahn); his wife Glenda Rae Knecht; his daughter Laura Lynn Hassett; his brother Richard; and his granddaughter Rebecca Rae Hassett.

He is survived by : his sons, Brian Hassett (Traci) of Fairbury and Kevin Hassett (Karen) of Limestone; his grandchildren, Madeline Hassett of Athens, GA, Abigail Hassett of Fairbury, Anna Tonachel (Cooper) of Chicago, Nik Hassett of Fairbury and Alison Hassett of Limestone; and his great grandchildren, Malcom and Winston Schweizer of Fairbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Uplifted Care Hospice and Bourbonnais Little League.

Lawrence Brace wrote a sympathy message

“Brian and Kevin please accept Jackie and my condolences on the passing of your father. He was a good man. He loved baseball but began loving football with the two of you at MAC. He and your mother were so proud of the two of you. He will be missed by many. He will be in our prayers along with your mom and sister. This makes me sad to hear this. I hope you relate to your children the good times you all had to together. May they all rest in peace with our Lord. Jackie and Larry Brace.”
