He is survived by: his children, Brian Toennies (Theresa) of St. Augustine, FL, Karen Wieter (Dan) of Breese, Tammy Launer (Richard) of Edwardsville and Bart Toennies (Marianna) of Centralia; his grandchildren, Matthew Toennies (Tiffany Stewart), Joseph Gutasso, Richard Gutasso (Sara), Justin Eilers (Sasha), Nathan Eilers, Nicholas Eilers, Tanya Detmer (Greg), Shane Wieter (Katrina), Jacob Parent, Zachary Parent (Karina), Travis Launer, Justin Launer (Bree), Brady Toennies, Trent Toennies (Kylie Jones) and Deven Toennies (Emily); his great grandchildren, Desirea Toennies, Alex, Alexis Gutasso, Mia, Bash, Willow Eilers, Codyn, Cambri, Cali Eilers, Cooper Eilers, Connor Detmer, Maddison Lewis, Mackenzie, Mackayla, Mackenna, Bryce, Bianca Wieter, Nolan, Easton Parent, Brylee and Avery Toennies; his siblings, Adrian Toennies (Trudy) of Trenton, Leonard Toennies (Georgia) of Albers, Glennon Toennies (Kathy) of Aviston, Jim Toennies (Marlene) of Bartelso, Leroy Toennies (Mary) of Bartelso, Mary Ellen Dumstorff of Breese, Pete Toennies (Jackie) of Damiansville and Anthony "Butch" Toennies (Nancy) of Damiansville; and his sisters-in-law, Diane Toennies of Bartelso and Sharon Hoelscher (Denver) of Breese. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
