He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thomas and Agnes Thomas; his brothers, Robert Thomas and Donald Thomas; his parents-in-law, Vince and Eugenia Meyer; and his siblings-in-law, David "Slick" Schlautmann, Donald Meyer, Cornel Zurliene, Darlene Thomas, Sherry Meyer, Lorraine Zurliene and Judy Meyer.
He is survived by: his wife Mary M. Meyer; his children, Ann Faust (Ken) of Aviston, Dorise Schulte (Jeff "Gus") of Breese, Monica Scheuer (Steve) of Lexington, IL, Susan Matt (Emilio) of Johns Creek, GA, Christy "Laine" Liss (Matthew) of Roswell, GA and David Thomas (Jill) of Damiansville; his grandchildren, Katie Young (Matt), Laura Carlen (Evan), Nicholas Faust (Molly Detmer), Morgan Arteman (Lauren), Heather Schulte, Stacy Thomas (Matt), Kayla West, Kelsey Walker (Brandon), Richard Rhodes, Diana Matt, Marty Liss, Marshall Liss (Emma), Simon Thomas (Addie Burns) and Sophie Thomas; his sister Mary Schlautmann of Germantown; and his siblings-in-law, Joann Thomas of Breese, Charles B. Meyer (Carole Knutt) of Breese, Ken Meyer of Aviston and Jim Meyer (Carol) of Maryville. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to All Saints Academy, Mater Dei Catholic High School, or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
