It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Joseph Obrochta (Bridgeview, Illinois), who passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Obrochta and Lillian Obrochta; and his brother Leon Obrochta. He is survived by: his wife Maryann Obrochta (Schmidt); his children, Genelle Griffins (Kevin), Rob Obrochta (Vanessa) and Andrew Obrochta (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Adam, Zoe Griffins, Lilian and Payton Obrochta; his brother Raymond Obrochta (Cynthia); and his brothers-in-law, Bill Schmidt (Kate), Martin Schmidt (Kim), Paul Schmidt (Caryn) and Pat (late Conrad Zaro). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to one of his favorite charities: Chicago Children's Advocacy Center, World Central Kitchen, the St. Fabian SPRED Program, Doctors Without Borders, or a charity close to your heart.

“My deepest sympathy to Bob' family. Bob and I were best friends growing up in the old neighborhood. Bob lived on Lee Lane and I lived on Erie Street. Bob and I shared bike riding adventures every night. The unofficial bike bath in Humbolt Park was conquered every day. We always stopped at the boat house at Humbolt Park and watched a drum and bugle band practice. It was always a contest which one of us sat on the buffalo's head. See you soon Buddy, Rich La Rocco”
