He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Sr. Oertel and Mary Oertel (Sieferd); his son Brian Oertel; and his siblings, Henry Oertel Jr., Fred Oertel, Greg Oertel and Gertrude Goss.
He is survived by: his wife Anita; his children, Vince Oertel of Piasa, Glen Oertel (Kristina) of Dow and Sandy Dwiggins (Jody) of Brighton; his grandchildren, Brandon Oertel, Lauren Dover, Kristopher Bosco and Sydney Dwiggins; and his sister Helen Wallace. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 21st 2025 at 12:30 PM at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (920 N Main St, Brighton, IL 62012).
