Ina Marks wrote a sympathy message

“In 1964 even though he he had his own south side temple Rabbi Shapiro drove to the north side once a week to conduct confirmation class for a temple that wa between rabbis. His intelligence and patience were amazing. For me what stood out the most was his love of justice and how he saw working for justice as essential to Judaism.. I am sure this was one of the major influences for my 27 yeas as a Cook County Public Defender which began when women lawyeres were rare.”
