He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin, Sr. Thomas and Garnet Thomas (Hulbert); and his siblings, Patricia Thomas, Alberta Thomas, Judy Parton Blandford and Otha Parton.
He is survived by: his sisters, Linda Risley (Sam) of Buffalo and Deborah Rene Ann Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
