She was predeceased by: her parents, James Albert and Mayre Murphy (Long); her daughter Lydia Sherwin Traweek; and her brother Richard Murphy. She is survived by: her children, Proctor James Sherwin of Austin and Rebecca Sherwin Harrison of Louisburg; and her grandchildren, Jaclyn Harrison Patterson, Robert Gregory Harrison, Proctor Davis Sherwin, Laura Sherwin Slavin, Forest Marshall Sherwin and Sarah Traweek Reid.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy.
