She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Halteman and Thelma Lee Halteman of Bardwell, Kentucky.; her son Stanley Newell; her husband Thomas Simmons (Tommy); and her siblings, Rosemary Burnett, Dorothy Reasons, Helen Riddle, Joe Halteman and Keith Halteman.

She is survived by: her grandson Michael Newell (Sabrina) of O'Fallon, Missouri; her great grandchildren, Jamie, Calleigh, Riley and Jack; and her daughter-in-law Gretchen Newell. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
