He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennie May Edgington (Duke) and Kenneth Edgington; his son Philip Edgington; his great grandchild Jordan Edgington; and his brothers, Delbert and Dereck Edgington.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Edgington of Calhoun; his children, Johnnie Edgington Jr. (Mary) of Calhoun and Jennie Edgington of Calhoun; and his siblings, Dwight Edgington (Betty) of Xenia and Hope Jones of Effingham. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
