She was predeceased by: her parents, George W. Shaw and Carrie Mae Shaw (VanDyke); her daughter Beverly Thompson; her son-in-law Shad McKay; and her siblings, Howard, Clarence, George Shaw, Evelyn Robbins, Betty Janes and Donna Moats.
She is survived by: her husband Richard E. Byrd; her children, Evelyn Steel (Allen Lynch) of Hillsboro, Paula McKay of Hampton, Tracy Smith (Randall) of New Boston, Randall Byrd, Sr. (Jeannette) of Moline and Richard E. Byrd, Jr. of Colona, Illinois; and her close friend Maggie. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
