He is survived by: his mother Paula Smith (Downey); his wife Ronda Smith (Covington); his children, Sarah (Chris Mitter) of Carterville and Kyle Smith of Herrin; his grandchildren, Jacob Mitter, Madilyn Mitter and Nolan Smith; his siblings, Mark (Mary Smith) of Energy, Wendy Emery of Carterville and Julie Leposky (Mark) of California; his mother-in-law Jerry Covington of Herrin; and his sister-in-law Nina Covington of St. Louis.
