She was predeceased by: her husband Robert Eric Spain; her brother Gerold Fiek; and her mother Frieda Kahl. She is survived by: her children, Robert Spain Jr. (Angie), Dagmar Alexander (David) and Jerri Spain; her granddaughters, Paige Alexander (Jacob Linze) and Amelia Spain; her great grandchild Jordan Alexander-Beck; and her siblings, Hans Dieter Kahl and Anneliese Wehry. She is also survived by her mother and siblings.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Meredith Funeral Home (300 S University Ave, Carbondale, IL 62901). A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelin's name to the American Cancer Society and will be taken at the funeral home.
