He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Sheffer and Adelaide Sheffer (Ondrak); and his sisters, Cathleen Sheffer and Susan Sheffer. He is survived by: his wife Diane Mirtich of President's Service Award; his children, Dr. Amanda Sheffer and Dr. Douglas Sheffer (Amber); his granddaughter Cameron Sheffer; and his siblings, Edward Sheffer (Anne), James Sheffer (Laura), Dr. Mary Lou Sheffer and Thomas Sheffer (Elizabeth).
