He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Grater and Fanny Grater (Braun). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Matluck; his children, Amy Anders (Lance) and Louis Grater (Trina); and his grandchildren, Ayden Anders, Aubrey Anders, Hugo Grater, George Grater and Roger Grater.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Food Bank (Ministries) in Carbondale.
