He is survived by: his wife Edith Mathis of Carlyle; his children, Pamela Faber (Steven) of Pontiac, Tammy Lyons (Robert) of Boulder, Kimberly Spihlmann (Steven) of Carlyle and Jeffrey Mathis (Dee) of LaGrange, GA; his grandchildren, Brent Hofbauer (Stephanie), Leslie Monahan (Joey), Jill Brandt, Julie Robert (Tim), Janelle Lyons (Kyle), Jacqulyn Spihlmann, Kristina Schwarz (Kevin), Lisa Spaulding (Phillip), Nicholas Spihlmann (Mackenzie) and Lauren Mathis; his stepgrandchildren, Brent Faber (Agata) and Adrienne Faber; his siblings, LaDonna Capozzi (John) of Florida, Sharon Moody (Aaron Phillips) of Florida, Steven Mathis (Shelly) of O'Fallon and Lynn Loyd (Lenny) of Marissa; and his brother-in-law Pete Wilson of Steeleville. He is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
