It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty J Newman of Carmi, Illinois, who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Dillinger and Irene Dillinger (Whisenhunt); the father of her children James Cordell Hutchison (Joe Newman); her siblings, Bob Dillinger, Melvin Dillinger and Lorene Pollard; and her stepdaughter Mary Jane Pitre.
She is survived by: her children, Sheryl Barker (Steve) of McLeansboro, IL, Randy Hutchison (Alice) of Carmi, IL and Kevin Hutchison (June) of Murphy, NC; her stepdaughter Martha Jo Reddick of Albany, GA; her grandchildren, Shane Barker (Lisa), Shawn Barker (Staci), Lindsey Gish (Adam), Drew Hutchison and Courtney Hutchison; and her stepgranddaughters, Jessica Pitre, Rebecca Pitre, Mary Bernardine (Ronald) and Mandy Basko. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the New Beginnings Church of God (401 W Sycamore St, Carmi, IL 62821). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to New Beginning Church of God in Carmi and will be accepted at the church or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
