Elmer Weccele Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on May 9, 2026, at the age of 69, Elmer Weccele of Carmi, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer F. Weccele, Sr. and Frances Weccele (Murphy); his son Jason Weccele; his grandson Landen James McClanahan; his siblings, Charles "Art" Weccele, Robert Weccele, William "Bill" Weccele, Harry Weccele and Rita Weccele; and his mother-in-law Phyllis Brinkley.
He is survived by: his wife Gina Weccele (Brinkley) of Carmi, IL; his children, Shawn Weccele (Liv) of Indian Land, SC, Lacey Johnson (Zach Etcheson) of Fairfield, IL, Brandon Brinkley (Crystal) of Fairfield, Derek Downs (Jeffrey Flier) of Hillsboro, MO, Zack McClanahan (Samantha Durbin) of Fairfield, Jeremy McClanahan (Morgan Chapman) of Fairfield and Ashley Nixon (Jacob) of Fairfield; his grandchildren, Dante Weccele, Luca Weccele, Aubrey Johnson, Reagan Johnson, Sloan Etcheson, James Broden Brinkley, Spencer Lee Nixon, Elijah Nixon, Riley Nixon, Aleah McClanahan, Kinsley McClanahan and Kasen Walden; his siblings, Joseph Weccele of Carmi, Flo Weccele of Wayne City, IL and Pat Elwert (Warren) of Justice, IL; and his pets, Winston Ferman Weccele and Bobbi Sue Weccele. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elmer's memory may be made to assist with final expenses. Memorials should be made to "Elmer F. Weccele, Jr. Trust" and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
