He was predeceased by: his parents, Silas Junior and Leola Jean Smith (Richardson); and his brother Steven Smith. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Smith of Carmi, IL.; his children, Leanna Bonczkowski of Aurora, IL. and Aaron Smith (Amanda) of Carmi, IL.; his grandchildren, Bryson Sageser (Amber Moss), Amanda Bonczkowski, Kayla Bonczkowski and Sophia Smith; his siblings, Nita Edwards (John) and Phillip Smith (Vickie); and his sister-in-law Joyce Smith.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel Roberts and Cook Funeral Service (101 Edgewood Ln, Carmi, IL 62821).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elks Children's Care Program and will be accepted at the funeral home.
