We are sad to announce that on May 19, 2024, at the age of 78, Marilyn Bass of Carmi, Illinois, born in Willmar, Minnesota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Clarence Klinghagen and Florence Klinghagen (Boike); her former life partner William Nick Mehrhoff; her spouse Marion Bass (Red); and her siblings, Linda, Darlene, Lavonne, Larry, Lee and Leon.

She is survived by : her children, Dawn Marie Holland (Keith) of Carmi, IL, William Dean Mehrhoff (Sara) of Dallas, TX and Loree Lynn Mehrhoff of Carmi, IL; her grandchildren, Amanda Goff (Jason) of Carmi, IL, Amber Rankin (Josh) of Crossville, IL., Maryah Chairez of Grand Prairie, TX., Justin, Joshua Shaw of Lewisville, TX, Christopher Sheets of Decatur, TX. and Brandon Cuka of Texas; her great grandchildren, Madison Kranz (Meagen Kranz) of Carmi, IL, Cailey Kuka, Rylan Kuka and Cody Diaz; her brother Dean Klinghagen (Linda) of Willmar, MN; and her siblings-in-law, Chris Klinghagen of Bel Fouche, SD, Mary Klinghagen of Glencoe, MN., Deborah Klinghagen of Willmar, MN and James Gerdes of Glencoe, MN. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Campbell Funeral Home (609 W Main St, Carmi, IL 62821). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Marshall Ferry Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marilyn's memory to the American Diabetes Foundation or Pets at Risk, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
