It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Joseph Howard of Carrollton, Illinois, who passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Dunaven and Mildred Whitworth Howard Dunaven; his wife Patricia M. Tuey; and his siblings, Audrey Jean Martin, Patsy Brown (Charlie) and Tom "Butch" Howard.
He is survived by: his daughters, Amber D. Lockard (Cody) of Virden and Michelle L. Thompson (Terrence) of Edwardsville; his grandchildren, Taylor G. Schoondyke (Dakota) of Virden, Lillian M. Zimmerman of Jacksonville and Tyrell D. Kelly of Edwardsville; his great grandchildren, Holden Levi and Lincoln James; his sister Sara Quade (Tom) of Panama, Illinois; and his sister-in-law Beverly Howard of White Hall. He is also survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.
