He was predeceased by: his parents, Barbara Loudene (Tippy) and Kenneth Raymond Phillips; his son David; and his sister Lita Joan Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Bessie Jean Reynolds; his children, Amber Phillips, Sarah Ahls-Phillips (John Wyskochil), Steven Baumann (Tiffany), William Baumann (Rachel), Kendra Newnum, Sierra Newnum (Christian Funk) and Edgar "Buddy" Newnum IV (Elsa Butler); his brother Mark Phillips (Tammy); his aunts, Shirley White and Lita Padgett (Larry); his nephew Kenneth Stout (Misty); his niece Joanna Williams (Ian); and his great-nephews, Liam Stout and Logan Williams. He is also survived by cousins and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home (322 N Division St, Carterville, IL 62918). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
