We bid farewell to John Coleman McCamish of Carterville, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 28, 2025 at the age of 77. John touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wendell Ward "Bill" and Jenniev McCamish (Gentry); his brother Bill Stephen McCamish; and his close friend Mike Plumer. He is survived by: his wife Karla McCamish; his daughters, Jennie Hagan (Marty), Melissa Olsen (Derek) and Betsy Mitchell (Curt); his grandchildren, Emmy Kampe (Christian), Grace Cawthorne (Bradley), Charlie Hagan, Paul Cole Olsen, Tatum Shoemake (Hunter Garner) and Bailey Shoemake; his great grandchildren, Henry, Levi, Maverick, Chapman Thomas and Clementine; his siblings, Mere Lyn Miller (Carl), Becky Ann Johnson (Larry) and Bradley Sam McCamish; and also, Paul McHargue, Bill Lovern, Allida Plumer and Jennifer Dalton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home (322 N Division St, Carterville, IL 62918). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Saturday, June 7th 2025 at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
