We bid farewell to Virginia Lucille Whitehead of Carterville, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 7, 2025 at the age of 97. Virginia touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Radford and Clara Radford (Copher); her former husband Claude Howell; her husband William "Bill" Whitehead; her son Larry Gene Howell; her siblings, Bernadine Jenning (Rue), Maralee Swerman (Bob) and Donald Radford (Ray Dean); her grandparents, Oran and Altha Copher; Jerry and Dale Whitehead.
She is survived by: her son Marvin Howell (Carolyn); her daughter-in-law Dona Howell; her grandchildren, Tony Howell (Laura), Becky Howell Howell (Adam Berry) and Matthew Howell (Ashley Walker); her great grandchild Clara Bowe; and her stepchildren, Gale Stover (Lindell), Gene Whitehead (Barb) and Jimmy Whitehead (Joanie). She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Spillertown Baptist Church (110 N Spillertown Rd, Marion, IL 62959). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the New Salem Cemetery (3575 Creal Springs Rd, Creal Springs, IL 62922).
