He was predeceased by: his parents, James Salyers and Lorine Salyers (Young); his wife Claudia Jeanne Spencer; his daughter Kelly Hoekema; and his siblings, Delores "Arlene" Goss, James, Charles and Marvin Salyers.
He is survived by: his daughter Jeannie Gilpin (Brad) of Keokuk; his grandchildren, Destiney, Kaylee Gilpin, Brittin, Brooke and Sean Hoekema; his great grandchild Clark Gilpin; his sisters, Gail Westercamp of Bonaparte and Sharon Sloat (Eric) of Carthage; and his pets, Diego and Julio. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
