It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Lucille Athey of Casey, Illinois, who passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Art Van Houten and Lizzie Van Houten Barkhurst (Hamilton); her husband Delmar Athey; her son Steven Wayne Athey; her grandson Jon Athey; her daughter-in-law Mary Athey; and her siblings, Ivan Van Houten, Gene Van Houten, Saretta Perisho and Jane Turner.
She is survived by : her children, Douglas Athey of Camby, IN, Dana Athey (Jacki) of Villa Grove, IL and LeAnn Akins (Ben) of Charleston, IL; her grandchildren, Lori Nees (Jimmy), Shay Cianfa (Jefferson), Morgan Athey, Isabela Athey, Reesa Athey, Madeleine Stone (Trey) and Maggie Smith; her great grandchildren, Camron Nees (Brenna), Carter Nees, Olivia Cianfa, Penelope Cianfa, Parker Stone, Nolan Stone and Charlie Todd; her great great grandchildren, Oliver Nees and Wrenley Nees; her stepgrandchildren, Gage Akins and Jacie Akins; and her great grandchild AJ Bell. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces, her church family and many friends and neighbors.
