He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Phelps and Shirley Phelps (Douthit); his grandson Rocky Smith; his brother Doug Gruen; and his pet Bam Bam.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Phelps; his children, Christina Smith of Centralia, Candice Toft (Jason) of Mt. Zion, Tracey Meredith (Nick) of Salem and Jacalyn Phelps of Centralia; his stepchildren, Michael Wylder, Jesse Wylder, Karissa Wylder and Lucy Kay Wylder of Centralia; his children, Nate Hill and Travis Hopkins; and his brother David "Taco" Phelps. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Osborn Funeral Home (322 N Main St, Dix, IL 62830). A memorial service was held on Friday, May 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
