He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert V. Hayes and Violia Hayes (Kracht). He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth Hayes of Spain; his stepdaughter Kathleen Phelan of Guam; and his brother Thomas Hayes (Jeanie) of Indianapolis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
